AtayaApp: A Valuable Learning Tool for Migrants

AtayaApp is an extension of Ataya, the intercultural and multi-level manual of the Ruah Cooperative. This Android app targets migrants who, due to psychological, geographical, or organizational reasons, cannot always attend Italian L2 language courses. It also serves as additional teaching material for those who attend school.

With its authentic videos and photographs, AtayaApp is a valuable aid for illiterate migrants who are not familiar with abstraction. The touch technology is intuitive, fun, and functional for learning. With AtayaApp, students can work alone, according to their own pace and interests.

AtayaApp is intended for all illiterate or poorly literate migrants, with particular attention to asylum seekers who may often be subject to transfers and changes in program. With AtayaApp, they can always carry the Italian course, a fundamental tool for social inclusion.

The app is structured into 10 units, divided into the following skills: understanding, speaking, reading, writing.
